How to make a quick and easy water dripper

The sound of moving water will increase the attractiveness of your backyard to all sorts of wildlife, but particularly birds. And, adding the element to the backyard is both simple and cheap.

Begin with an empty, clean, large plastic container with an incorporated or attached handle, like a gallon milk jug. Poke a very small hole, such as could be done with a large stick pin, in the corner opposite the handle.

Fill the container with water and suspend it by its handle over a birdbath or a shallow pan of water.

The device you’ve just created is commonly known as a dripper.

The water in the container will begin to drip into the pool of water, producing the sound of moving water with each drip

It may not sound very loud to your human ears, but to wildlife it’s like the clanging of a bell.

Water is often harder to come by than food or shelter, so wildlife will respond quickly and regularly to the sound telling it where the water is to be found.
